As the planes spiral around a skewer that is used to unify the model the planes become more linear with each one representing the wind as it hits Gates. 
From this elevation the viewer can see the progession from curved planes to linear.
I used the base as another unifying object with small steps inclining with the height of the planes.
Also, from this elevation the viewer can see the progession from linear to curved planes.
