Rehabilitation Cell

Shortly after starting this project my viewpoints on what a prisoner should be entitled to have changed dramatically. When I first began looking at prison facilities and what they were designed to accomplish; having a bed, desk, and a television were the maximum amount of what I believe a prisoner should be permitted. After conducting further research on this topic, I now realize that it is not the amount of materials that a person owns or possesses, it’s the play on an individual’s freedom that I believe is the most effective route for the future of prison design.

Within this rehabilitation cell I plan to use natural light in a way that it illuminates the space making this cell feel as if it’s an outdoor oasis. In doing this, this cell will become one that is therapeutic; that will inspire one to evaluate themselves and effectively take control of their life.
